So, I bet you can tell this is my first post...ever. I know it's long, but I want to get visitors caught up on where I'm at today.
What better way to start than at the beginning. I was born in Germany at only 7 months instead of the usual 9. Due to this early evacuation, my lungs were not fully developed, so I was placed in an incubator until they were finished. I believe it was 3 months, but I could be wrong. I know that I was born at the end of February and couldn't be adopted until I was healthy which was in July. Anyway, fast forward to 1997. Yes, 1997 which makes me 34 years young. Ok, so I'm dating a younger(always a good choice unless you are 18) lady who is a member of the local running club, the Annapolis Striders. She wasn't real fast, but I was fond of her enough to jog with her on her quote, "runs." And I liked it! I had always been into fitness and had been a member of a gym since 1988, so the running was another and easy way to keep the midsection slim. This was also a way to impress my younger girlfriend and share a common interest. However, a dark cloud was looming :( After a short courtship(around 3 months), she had said bye-bye to persue her dream of attending grad school to become a psychologist. I was heartbroken and didn't take it well. She announced her intentions the night we were supposed to attend a Sarah McLaughlin concert in Baltimore. Needless to say, she was not my date and I took my straight friend, Matt, instead. Ok, so I'm alone and have more free time. So I decide to run more often. Do any of you remember the book, "Rabbit, Run" by the acclaimed writer John Updike? Well, it's basically about a man who runs whenever life closes in. Do you see where I'm going with this? Ok, it's still 1997 and I decide to visit my parents on Maui for a week. During my stay, my father, who has already been told of my new interest in running, takes me to the nearby shoe emporium to buy me some lightweight running shoes of my choice! But he has a plan you see. He also tells me about a 5K race that will take place during my stay on Maui and suggests I enter. Sorry to leave you hanging, but I must go, but will continue my book very shortly. Stay tuned!!!
